Through our almost 30 years of yoga practice and several long stays in India, the cradle of yoga, yoga has become an important part of our lives. Thanks to these experiences, we have been able to design a holistic yoga retreat in which we cater to your individual needs. This means that our yoga retreats are suitable for everyone, young and old, beginner or advanced. Competent support during your yoga retreat on La Palma is guaranteed.

As we will not be hosting any other guests during your yoga retreat on La Palma, we have the time and the opportunity to adapt to your individual wishes and previous knowledge in a very sensitive way; This makes us very different from yoga retreats that are offered for groups. You will receive our full attention. This makes it easier to make corrections to the asanas and breathing exercises.

The special and unique thing about our yoga retreats on La Palma is our lovingly landscaped flower oasis with sea views and its secluded location. Our wild and romantic valley offers a protected and meditative setting in which to devote yourself intensively to the teachings of yoga. The daily yoga sessions take place on our beautifully situated yoga meadow with an idyllic view of our oasis “VIDYAMOR ~ LA PALMA”.

The special thing about our “VIDYAMOR” yoga retreat on La Palma / Canary Islands is the family atmosphere and the individual support, as we do not offer group courses. This means that our guests already know each other and are travelling together.

The “VIDYAMOR” yoga retreat is for 2 persons lasts one week and includes:

Accommodation

Our cosy guest house with sea views in the mountains of La Palma will be your accommodation; It has a lovingly furnished room with double and single bed with shower/WC and a private garden terrace with adjoining sunbathing lawn.

Vegan catering

Every day you will be served a vegan “yoga all-day menu” with a delicious breakfast / brunch, afternoon snack, dinner and drinks. On the evening of your arrival on La Palma, we will prepare a mixed salad with avocado, sprout bread, olives and herbs. For the day of departure, you will receive a small travel snack consisting of nuts, dried fruit and fruit.

Yoga lessons

The daily programme includes approx. 4 hours of yoga classes and can be arranged individually. The yoga classes can, for example, be spread out from morning to midday or throughout the day.

In our “VIDYAMOR” yoga retreat on La Palma / Canary Islands, you will learn various asanas, breathing techniques, relaxation exercises and meditations over five days of classes.

On request, we can also integrate bhajans and mantra chanting into the daily programme and explore Indian philosophy and yogic, vegan nutrition.

The aim of the “VIDYAMOR” yoga retreat is to train you so that you can practise yoga independently.

This yoga retreat is just right for you if you want a balanced mix of yoga and a holiday. After the yoga class, you have the opportunity to explore the beautiful Canary Island of La Palma every day.

As we do not accommodate any other guests during your yoga retreat, we can adapt to your wishes and previous knowledge in a very individual and sensitive way. This makes us very different from yoga retreats that are offered for groups. Because we have the opportunity and the time to organise the yoga class in such a way that you receive our full attention, it is easier to make corrections to the physical and breathing exercises.

A special highlight of this yoga retreat is the location of our lovingly designed flower oasis with sea views and its secluded location. The wild and romantic valley in the mountains of La Palma offers an ideal setting in which to practise yoga and unwind. The daily yoga sessions take place on a beautifully situated yoga meadow with an idyllic view of our oasis.

The “LA PALMA” Yoga Retreat is an alternative to the “VIDYAMOR” Yoga Retreat if you want to spend less time on yoga; Here you have enough time to take advantage of our detox and wellness treatments and explore the beautiful island of La Palma.

Depending on how you want to spend your holiday on La Palma, you have the choice between a detox board or a wellness breakfast/brunch. Whether you want to detox gently or simply enjoy and relax: our Vidyamor oasis on La Palma is the ideal place to do so.

The “LA PALMA” yoga retreat is for 1 or 2 people, is offered for 1 to 2 weeks and includes:

Accommodation

Accommodation in our cosy guest house with sea view in the mountains of La Palma in a lovingly furnished room with double and single bed with shower/WC and private garden terrace with adjoining sunbathing lawn.

Catering

You can choose your own catering. You can choose between a detox or wellness variant:

Detox

3 different fruit and vegetable juices and detox teas daily, plus one fruit and vegetable meal each.

Wellness

Sweet or savoury breakfast creations from muesli, fruit juices, salads and sprout bread, spreads and much more.

On the evening of your arrival, we will serve a lovingly prepared salad with avocado, sprout bread, olives and herbs. For the day of departure, we will prepare a small travel snack consisting of dried fruit, nuts and fruit.

Yoga

This yoga retreat includes approximately one hour of one-to-one yoga classes per day, except on the day of arrival and departure. On request, it is also possible to have a double lesson and take another day off to explore the beautiful island of La Palma.

Translated, yoga means “union” and, unlike religions, is non-denominational and non-dogmatic. Whether you meditate on a flower or a Star of David, an Indian mantra or “Allah Akbar” is irrelevant, as the divine reveals itself in many different ways. Yoga is a spiritual path from India that serves the personal development of body, mind and soul.

By consciously stretching, strengthening and relaxing the body, the mind comes to rest. In this way, we can gain a sense of that state of inner peace that is our true nature.

The yoga we do here on La Palma, is adapted to the western lifestyle and deals with 5 basic principles: Proper nutrition, physical exercises (asanas), conscious breathing, relaxation and meditation.

The vegan / vegetarian yoga diet

A vegan/vegetarian diet consisting of natural foods such as fruit, vegetables and grains etc. is a prerequisite for practising yoga, as it keeps the body slim and flexible, gives it sufficient resistance to illness and clears the mind to make it receptive to the practice of yoga.

For those who are unable to perform the classic asanas, our yoga retreats on La Palma also offer the therapeutic yoga, in which we have the opportunity to specifically address musculoskeletal complaints.

Pranayama, the yoga teaching of breath control, brings more oxygen into the blood and thus to the brain. The breathing exercises can stimulate the life energy (prana), which refreshes and vitalises us.

Various techniques are used to harmonise female and male energies, whereby the spiritual predominates and the physical recedes into the background. Since the mental state is reflected in the breath, it follows that by controlling the breath we also learn to control our mind, which in turn benefits us in the yoga techniques of concentration and meditation.

The mind has a tendency to wander restlessly; it likes to occupy itself with the past and the future, avoiding the present. Simple and efficient yoga concentration exercises can help us to calm the mind.

We have thus created the basis for meditation, in which we experience that state of inner peace that constitutes our true nature. One form of concentration/meditation is “mantra singing”, where meditative spiritual prayers are repeated.

In bhakti yoga, melodious praises of the divine are sung with devotion and ecstasy.

On request, we offer this type of meditative singing in all our yoga, detox and wellness retreats on La Palma.

The highest consciousness in yoga is “samadhi” – a state beyond time, space and causality, where body and mind are transcended and perfect unity prevails.

According to the yoga view, every living being carries a spark of the divine within itself. However, this light is covered by countless layers, such as pain, fear, anger and the illusion of three-dimensional perception. The aim of yoga is to lift these veils and merge with our true nature.

There are countless types of yoga:

Karma Yoga, Bhakti Yoga, Jnana Yoga, Raja Yoga, Ashtanga Yoga and Hatha Yoga are just a few of them, but any path that is followed with dedication, concentration and perseverance can lead to the goal.

Therapeutic yoga is for people who are unable to practise classical hatha yoga for health reasons. When practising therapeutic yoga, we emphasise controlled breathing and conscious awareness of the body.

Based on our many years of experience, we have put together various therapeutic physical exercises in such a way that they can be used holistically and individually for almost all health problems. With the help of special stretching exercises, it is possible to alleviate pain in the musculoskeletal system. Certain exercises from “Pilates” and the “5 Tibetans” promote strength and flexibility so that you can then practise classic yoga asanas. Furthermore, so-called “Joints Rolling”, which is also used in Thai Chi, can release blockages and deposits from the joints.

Which exercises are best suited to each person is determined in a short consultation here on La Palma.
